Series Focus: “Through His Eyes”
Who do you think you are?
This question can be taken different ways, but today, please sincerely ask yourself – “Who am I?” Most of us can easily identify with who we are at work, at school, or at home. I am the first born of three children, a wife, a mother, and a ministry leader. I know things about my personality, my strengths, my weaknesses, and my gifts. I also know what I’ve done in the past, (the good and not so good), what I think about, hope for, and I am certainly the first to point out the slightest imperfection in my reflection. But…what if… I am so much more than this?
How do we uncover the answer to this vital question, especially if we have a misplaced identity? My inmost response for women who love Christ is to stop looking in the mirror and to other’s opinions about you. In those places you will never find who you truly are. Begin looking at your Creator for a clearer, truer, fuller picture.
Seeing ourselves “Through His Eyes” is our focus for the next several weeks. We will anchor ourselves to the proper truths, so we flourish as Christian women. Sister, if you are still in the process of deciding to follow Jesus or struggling with how to receive His grace…I hope you will take this journey with us, and at the end, be able to see how truly valuable you are to Him. I believe a Savior who willingly died for me, is someone who sees me more fully than I can see myself, and I can trust who He says I am.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. (John 3:16-17 NASB)
Discovering who we are, may require understanding who we are not. As we explore the truths of our Identity according to Christ, we will need to be able to spot a lie when we hear one. Every truth God says about us, Satan attempts to distort. Any security we begin to feel, Satan tries to shake. Fighting the enemy for our true identity takes more than we can wield alone. And that is ok, because we never will be.
“And the Lord is the one who is going ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not desert you or abandon you. Do not fear and do not be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB)
Scriptures reveal how God sees us. We will learn through His Word how to hold fast to the fullness of who we are and let go of who we are not. Ladies, you are not who you once were, you are not how you feel, you are not alone, and you are not defined by your past mistakes or successes.
You are made in the image of the One True God, and He wants you to be secure in this One True Identity.
