Light is sweet; how pleasant to see a new day dawning.
Ecclesiastes 11:7 (NASB)
Series Focus: “Let There Be Light”
A sunrise—one of the most captivating sights in God’s creation—signals that morning draws near. We rise from our slumber and step into a new day. Whether you consider yourself a morning person, or not, something wonderful awaits you as day breaks. Will you embrace this possibility as we wade a little deeper into how beneficial this morning light is to God? I invite you to read and meditate for a moment upon the following scriptures.
And Achish answered David and said, “I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God. Nevertheless, the commanders of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’ Now then rise early in the morning with the servants of your lord who came with you, and start early in the morning, and depart as soon as you have light.” (1 Samuel 29:9-10 ESV)
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
(Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79 NLT)
Knowing God provides new mercies every morning, and that His love is never-ending, brings so much comfort to my soul. Those times I choose the wrong path or believe the enemy’s lies would haunt me, if not for His compassion, tenderness and forgiveness. God sent Jesus to Earth to forgive our sins and extend mercy to those who are in need. Jesus was merciful then, and He remains merciful today. Hebrews13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. With the dawn of each day, God’s compassion is poured out from an infinite supply. His mercies will never run out.
God provides for us a way out of trouble, just as He did for David. He tells us to start early— to rise up as soon as daylight arrives. Be ready to greet your day by embracing God as your guiding light. The morning light provides our warmth, our ability to find our way around, and even more importantly, offers us a chance to confess, repent and begin anew. Every new day can be seen as a symbol of God’s light breaking through the darkness and His mercy overcoming our trials.
Tomorrow, as morning light breaks upon us, let’s receive His holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, grace, hope, and revelation—leaving the darkness of evil, sin, and despair behind us. Rise up ladies, it’s a new day dawning, and God awaits to light your way!
Holding Fast to Hope,
Jen
