Hope is Sure

Lord, help me to remember:
My life on earth is but a moment.
My life with you is forever.

Scripture for today: Psalm 39:6-8 (NLT)

“We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it. And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you. Rescue me from my rebellion. Do not let fools mock me.”

When I was a little girl, I remember sitting on a swing-set for hours. Just swinging. The wind would blow my hair to and fro until my mom would call me to come in for dinner. As I got older and there was much to do, that prized swing-set was no longer a part of my day. It just rusted away. No little girl left to enjoy it. I fill my days with countless tasks that need attention. The days of carelessly letting my hair blow in the wind seem long gone… Yet it was just yesterday, wasn’t it? How quickly this life passes by.

How many times do I say to myself, “I hope I can get everything I need to get done today finished,” or “I hope I can make it to work on time,” or “I hope my kids make good decisions today.” You see this kind of hope implies I have doubts. It says I am not really sure these things will happen – but I hope they do. And while I hope in the things of this world, I will always have doubt.

Let’s reflect on what David is telling us in these verses. He says his HOPE is in God. David emphasized how short life is on earth. He knows time is fleeting in this life we live. And he knows eternity will be forever. We move so fast. We save up for “things” that are only going to matter for a short time. And at times, we doubt God can handle our needs, don’t we? David knew what he needed. He needed God. He wanted to live his life in a way that showed that God was his HOPE. He did not want to be frivolous so to be made fun of, but he wanted to live a righteous, honorable life. And he was certain God was going to help him. Putting our hope in our Mighty God is a sure thing. We don’t have to doubt it. He will rescue you. He will protect you.

Holding Fast to Hope,

Jen

What a phenomenal way to kick-off this ministry…hope in God! What would we do without Hope…our Blessed Hope? I’m praying for you both and for all the women you will bless with your life-messages! Thank you for all that you have invested into women already! I love you both!
