Arise in Hope

Think about His love and feed upon His faithfulness!

Scripture for Today:  Lamentations 3:21-23 (ESV)

“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!”

Life can throw some real curve balls at us. We may be moving full steam ahead in one direction, only to have the rug pulled right out from under us, and the complete momentum and direction be changed on a dime. It may be the result of outside forces, or of our own choices. Regardless, sudden changes often produce fear, anxiety, and worry. Given place, these emotions lead to bitterness, strife, and despair. No matter the storms, the curve balls, the struggles life may throw at us, there is One who remains the same through it all. Almighty God never changes. His love for us is constant. He never stops loving us! Even when we make poor choices and mess up… Even when we don’t know Him and understand His love for us… Even when we are facing dire circumstances and lash out at Him… God is always with us. He is always for us. He always loves us. His mercies for us are brand new each and every day.

There have been many times in my life when I have messed up, questioned God, and even turned away from Him. Just like you – these are moments I am not proud of and I wish had never happened. Something I have learned through those hard times is that God’s love, mercy, and faithfulness toward me is not based on MY character. They are based upon HIS character. He is not a man that He should lie. There is no variance – no shadow of turning – in His character. God is the same – yesterday, today, and forever. He is perfect Love in operation.

As I have grown to understand His character, I have understood in greater measure His steadfast love, His unending mercy, and His unfailing faithfulness – even toward me. This is why my hope is in Him. This is the reason my heart is stirred and positive expectations are birthed when I think upon Him. As I commit to meditate upon His love, His mercies, His faithfulness toward me, hope arises. … Know this: He feels the same about you!  His love for you is intense and completely dependable. His mercies for you are continuous and unstoppable. His faithfulness toward you is abundant and ceaseless.

Think upon Him today and arise in new hope!

Holding Fast to Hope,
Maryann
