Trampling the Enemy

Lord, You have given me the ability to trample the enemy.
I am seated with You in heavenly places.
Therefore, the enemy is under my feet.
Hallelujah! I am victorious in Christ.

Focus of the Month: Beautiful Reflection

Jesus. All authority has been given to Him. King of kings, Lord of lords. The name above every name. All other names are under – every knee must bow to – everything is subject to – the wonderful majestic, powerful name of Jesus.

Satan. The god of this world. Full of pride, the father of lies, the one who deceives and destroys; steals and kills; exalts himself. With cunning devices, he leads others astray, while promising smokescreens of fame, fortune, and satisfaction. Pride has gone before the fall of him.

Which one is the “God” of you? Do you seek recognition, validation, position? Or, do you humbly bend to those in authority, knowing your position in Christ? Do you yield to the reports of lies, sicknesses, defeat and destruction? Or, do you stand, demanding the life Jesus provided to you? Do you go through life singing, “Que sera sera – whatever will be will be”? Or, do you rise up, defying the whims, fancies, and circumstances of the world’s effect in your life? We DO have a “say” in our lives.

In Luke 10:19, Jesus said,

“Behold, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The authority to trample the enemy has been provided to us. Jesus Himself said that nothing shall harm us. …Yet, we do experience pain, harm, hurt… Why?

If we examine that verse, it begins by declaring the authority to TRAMPLE the ENEMY has been provided to US – WE who believe – WE who would identify as followers of Christ.

Do we believe the Word of God is true? …That we have ALL POWER over the enemy? Do we believe with all that is within us that the enemy – Satan – has NO power over us?

If we did, we would be walking out the fulfillment… “Nothing shall harm us.”

But things DO harm us.  The reality is that Satan is the god of this world. And we, as Christians, are in the world. Because we are in the world, we become subject to and entangled with the deceptions and enticements of the world – and of Satan.  However, God told us – though we are IN the world, we are not OF the world. There IS a difference.

In Ephesians 1:22, Paul wrote, “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church.” and further, in Ephesians 2:4-7, Paul taught, ” But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved – and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…”

We, in Christ, sit with Him in the heavenly places. If all things are under His feet as He is seated in Heaven, then because we are seated with Him in that heavenly place, all things are under OUR feet. Because we are in Christ, all things are subject to His authority in us. We are redeemed, sanctified, renewed and restored through Christ. But it doesn’t stop there! We have authority in Him.

Commit today to walk in the authority provided to you in and through Jesus, and be a beautiful reflection of the Prince of Peace and the Victor of evil. The enemy has been defeated. Strengthen your faith, rise up with Christ, and walk in the fulfillment of His truth. Trample the enemy and be a beautiful reflection of Christ!

Holding Fast to Hope,
Maryann
